Fillers

The BLU-U® Treatment
The Blu-U is not a UV light, but a special blue light that can kill the p. acne bacteria on your skin. Treatments are easy and simple; you sit with you face very close to the light for a short time, usually 30 minutes, once per week. Treatments are very safe and do not hurt. After a few treatments, you will start to see an improvement in your acne.
Photodynamic Therapy
Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is the process of using a topical medication called Levulin™ (aminolevulonic acid) and activating this medication with a light source (usually blue light). PDT has been used successfully for treatment many skin problems. Probably the best usage has been to treat acne, aging spots called seborrheic keratosis, and precancerous skin lesions called actinic keratosis.
At Laser Away, we have used PDT for a variety of medical treatments but by far we have used it most for acne treatments and skin blemishes. Levulan is a photo-sensitizing medication that has the unique ability to reduce pores and glands, thus improving acne.
Photorejuvenation
Photorejuvenation is a cosmetic treatment that helps to produce younger and healthier looking skin. It is a good treatment to target aging spots, sun damaged areas, broken blood vessels (a.k.a telangiectasia), rosacea, and pigmented areas of the skin. This is usually recommended in a series of 3 to 5 treatments.
Visia Skin Analysis
There is no discomfort involved in the VISIA Digital Skin Analysis. During your appointment, we will examine your complexion and ask you to complete a Skincare History form to become acquainted with your skincare routine, allergies, medications you may be taking or have tried in the past and any skin health issues. We will then discuss how you would like to improve your skin. Based on this, we will address and recommend various treatments and/or products to improve your complexion.
Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion enhances the healthy appearance of skin by gently removing dead skin cells to help eliminate blocked pores and pimples, and smoothing facial lines to achieve a rejuvenated glowing complexion.

Moles
Moles can come in many different forms, colours, shapes, and sizes. The most common moles we are asked to remove is a dark or black mole or one that is changing and may be suspicious for pre-cancerous changes. Not every mole turns into cancer but any mole that is suspiecious should be evaluated by your doctor.
Skin Tags
These are flesh coloured small "tags" of skin that frequently appear around the neck, waist, or in the armpits. They can occur anywhere on the body and are benign growths (they do not become cancerous). Sometimes these tags can catch on clothing and become irritated (red and sore). We often remove skin tags by simple excision or by cryotherapy (freezing).

While not life threatening, acne can leave life-long emotional and physical scars, a reminder of the embarrassment and self consciousness that came along with the pimples. Luckily there are treatments to help with acne and acne scarring.
